This program provides technical assistance, quick bridging of business knowledge and skill gaps. It is designed for those passionate about owning or growing their business. This comes highly recommended for you and lack of prior business education is not a barrier.

It has the following components:
Business & Management Training – you will learn the requisite attitudes, skills and knowledge for business success. Structure: 80% Practical, 20% enriched tutorial content (once a week).

Business Coaching – you will have access to business advisory services and technical assistance from our Facilitators/Experts.

Mentoring – you will have a Mentor to provide guidance and share business and leadership experience.

 

Business & Management Training

Education is a critical success factor for sustainable business undertakings.  This program has been designed to teach the requisite attitudes, skills and knowledge for business success.

 

The curricula for the tutorial component include the following:

  • The Business Environment and Opportunities
  • Business Feasibility and Plan
  • Legal and Regulatory Issues
  • Marketing & Business Development
  • Book keeping and Records
  • Management Principles and Application
  • Operations and Production Management
  • Business Finance and Financial Markets
  • Ethics and Corporate Social Responsibility
  • Human Capital Management
  • Business Communication

The Business training runs for 3 months (80 percent practical field activity and 20 percent seminar conducted once a week from 9am to 4pm). This service will be delivered by Volunteers (Facilitators, Business Coaches, and Mentors).

Fees: N70,000 (Seventy Thousand Naira) payable to The African Small Enterprise Development Centre (AFSEDEC).

 

Business Coaching

Participants will have access to advisory services and technical assistance from our team of Facilitators.  Depending on the specific aspect where help is required the Specialist Business Coach will provide pro bono support as a Volunteer.

 

Mentoring

Every participant will be allowed to choose a Mentor to provide guidance and share business and leadership experience.  Mentoring period is for an initial period of 12 months.  However, continued relationship with Mentors beyond this period will be encouraged.  Mentors are also Volunteers and render pro bono services.

 

Business Development Clinics (BDCs)

To be successful in business requires capacity to weather through numerous challenges in a complex environment.   Moreover, manage success and growth can be even more daunting.

The Business Development Clinics are designed for owners of existing businesses (including professionals: engineers, lawyers, architects, doctors, surveyors, etc) to enable them network and share experience and challenges.  In the course of brainstorming, participants will develop and sharpen problem solving skills.

 

Vocational Skills Acquisition

Short courses for the acquisition of expertise in small scale manufacturing and services such as:

  • Agriculture (Livestock, Fisheries, Horticulture, Seeds and Seedlings production, Honey production, etc.)
  • Perfume production
  • Website development
  • Soap and cream production
  • Food and drinks processing
  • Beading and (Bridal) Make up Artistry
  • Aquaculture, micro and macro livestock farming
  • Photography and event coverage
  • Book keeping for Small Enterprises
